The biggest untold issue with architect to client relationship may be just software.
Most clients are unaware of architectural drawing or any kind of architectural symbols and may only need explanation about the project with visual presentation.
A story I got from my Swiss mentor is when he had those problems while doing the practice of architecture.
Some of his clients always agreed to all the drawings and explanation but they ended up not appreciating some pieces of the complete built design.
This was because they failed to visualize the drawn plan during the process.
He finally realized that with incorporation of a 3D design software it would ease his work on client presentations and relationship.
3D presentation gives the landscaper a peaceful journey through out his project.
This also helps the landscaper and project contractors as well to visualize the right outcome of the project.
To make this possible let me introduce you to two software that I use and probably save you from such a problem:
1. SKETCHUP
What is Sketchup?
It is a 3D Modeling Computer Program for a wide range of drawing applications such as architectural, interior design, landscape architecture, civil and mechanical engineering.
It is available as;
- web-based application, SketchUp Free
- Freeware version, SketchUp Make
- Paid version with additional functionality, SketchUp Pro.
SketchUp is owned by Trimble Inc., a mapping surveying and navigation equipment company.
The most beautiful thing I love about it is it’s;
- Online library of free model assemblies (e.g. windows, doors, automobiles)
- 3D Warehouse, to which users may contribute models.
It includes drawing layout functionality, allows surface rendering in variable “styles”, supports third-party “plug-in” programs hosted on a site called Extension Warehouse
The Warehouse provides other capabilities (e.g. near photo-realistic rendering) and enables placement of its models within Google earth.
2. ADOBE PHOTOSHOP
What is Adobe Photoshop?
It’s creative design tool that provides a user friendly interface with a focus on enhanced performance in any form of design.
Adobe Photoshop has;
- color and exposure adjustments
- layers
- Shadows
- and many other unbelievable design capabilities.
Upon completion of editing you are presented with a handful of options of exporting into a few popular formats. Such as Jpeg, Png, Pdf and many others.
